In 1902 Mr. Watts gave all the children at Spring Hill a holiday because the circus was in town!

In those days the children did not have entertainments as we have today. There were no cinemas. Radio and Television were not yet invented and computers were unheard of.

Mr. Watts knew that the circus was one of the highlights of a child's year in 1902. He wrote in the school logbook:

circus is coming to town next Wednesday…Have made arrangements for the
children to see the procession at dinnertime…” |
